What is THROWCADE?

THROWCADE is an arcade-style darts game app in development for play with a real dartboard. A phone or tablet provides objectives, turn prompts, lives, progression and a shared display while players still throw physical darts. The aim is not to replace darts, but to make a group game easier to understand and more exciting to share.

Why build it?

Traditional darts is brilliant, but new players can be put off by mental arithmetic, unfamiliar rules or the feeling that everyone else already knows what to do. Interactive darts venues show how lively the game becomes when instructions are clear, turns move quickly and the screen gives the room something to react to. THROWCADE is being designed to bring that energy to the dartboard people already have at home.

Who is it for?

The planned experience is for families, friends and social groups with mixed levels of darts experience. Some game ideas focus on individual races or survival, while others use teams, co-operative objectives, territory or longer-term progression. The current plan is local shared-screen play for two to eight players, although final player limits and device compatibility have not yet been announced.

• Real darts first. The physical throw stays at the centre.
• Easy to join. Players should understand the next action quickly.
• Fun across skill levels. Experienced players should not automatically dominate every mode.
• Shared moments. The screen supports the room rather than replacing it.
• Honest scope. We will only claim features that are genuinely ready.
• Safer play. Darts have sharp points, so children need responsible adult supervision and every game needs a clear throwing area.
